Grammarly is an optional extension which is meant to help you improve spelling and grammar in your writing.

Installing Grammarly on your Chromebook

  1. Visit the Grammarly's page on the Chrome Web Store and click the blue Add to Chrome button.
  2. When asked, click Add extension.
  3. You will be taken to a "Sign up" page. Click the Sign up with Google button, then select your Kentfield account.
  4. On the "Most of my writing is for" screen, choose School, then click Done
  5. Grammarly is now installed and set up; you can close the Grammarly page.

Uninstalling or Disabling Grammarly on your Chromebook

To disable or remove the Grammarly extension, follow these steps:

  1. In the top-right corner of a Chrome browser window, click the small jigsaw puzzle piece.
  2. At the bottom of the menu, click Manage Extensions.
  3. On the Grammarly item, click the blue switch (A) to disable the extension.
  4. To uninstall the extension completely, click the Remove (B) button instead.
  5. Grammarly is now turned off. You may need to refresh any browser tabs with Google Docs for the change to take effect.


Troubleshooting Problems with Grammarly

If the Grammarly extension is installed and enabled, but you are not signed in to the extension, you may find that some websites do not work correctly.


For example, Google Docs will not show any spell check or grammar check marks in your documents. If this happens will need to do one of the following:


Disable or Remove the Grammarly extension, as described above.


Or


Sign in to the Grammarly extension:

  1. In the top-right corner of a Chrome browser window, click the small jigsaw puzzle piece.
  2. Click on the Grammarly: Grammar Check... item.
  3. The Grammarly extension menu will appear. Click the Sign in link at the bottom of the menu.
  4. Click the Sign up with Google button, then select your Kentfield account.
  5. The Grammarly extension should now be active.
