Demonstration Video

Here is a 7 minute video demonstrating how to pair the bluetooth headset with your laptop, and how to use the headset with Zoom.

Connecting the Headset to Your Laptop

For use with your laptop, the key features of the headset are the "multi-function" button (A) at the end of the microphone boom and the indicator light (B) on the earpiece.

The very first time you turn on the headset, press and hold the multi-function button for 6 - 9 seconds, until the indicator light begins to rapidly flash blue and red. This will activate bluetooth pairing mode. If you've already turned the headset on, just hold this same button down until the headset turns off, then start again.

The next steps will take place on your laptop. Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen, choose System Preferences, then click Bluetooth.

In the list of devices, look for an item named Mpow M5. Click the Connect button. I also recommend checking the box marked Show Bluetooth in the menu bar.

The Mpow M5 entry should change to say "Connected", the headset will make a quiet beep, and the indicator light will stop flashing. The headset is now paired with your laptop. Click the Show All button (C) to go back to the main System Preferences window.

This time click the Sound icon to open the Sound preferences, then click the Input (A) tab. Choose Mpow M5 (B) to change your input to the headset's microphone. You can adjust the microphone's sensitivity with the Input volume slider (C).

Your laptop's sound should automatically play through the headset's earpiece; if it doesn't, click on the Output tab and set the Mpow M5 as the output device as well.

Changing Microphones in Zoom

When you're in a Zoom meeting, you can choose which microphone and speaker Zoom should use. To open the menu, click the small up arrow (A) next to the Mute button. If it isn't already checked, click to choose the Mpow M5 in both the Select a Microphone and Select a Speaker lists.

Headset Buttons

You can mute the headset by double-pressing the Multi-Function button at the end of the microphone boom. This will cause the indicator light to intermittently show two blue flashes, and you will periodically hear two beeps which sound like a telephone busy signal; these indicate that the microphone is muted.

Double-press the Multi-Function button again to un-mute the headset.

To turn the headset off, hold the Multi-Function button down for more than 5 seconds, until the indicator light flashes red.

To turn the headset back on, hold the Multi-Function button down for 3 - 5 seconds, just until you hear a beep and the indicator light flashes blue.

The volume up/down buttons do not work with your laptop, although they may work if you pair the headset with a phone or iPad.

Charging & Battery Life

The headset promises a Standby Time of 200 hours, and Talking Time of 18 hours. It takes around 2 hours to fully recharge.
